Description of the landscape.

Explanation

"Agro do Muíño" is an urban complex by two urbanizations, one large and one small. They stand out for the variety of houses of different shapes and colors and by the school that is also called "Agro do Muíño". A part was the place where Rosalía de castro (a famous poetess) live her first years with her aunt.

Chronology
This site was changing a lot over time due to needs. For example The demand for houses near Santiago increased and they decided to build them here. But before that there were only about four houses in the area, an church, a cemetery, a laundry room and little else.

There was also a fire that burned much of the forest that borders the school.

Changes and permanences over time
Changes ->Over time it went from being a forest with a building of a completely useful urban area. An in the last twenty years the landscape changed a lot because the increase of population that made the need of houses. And because of the proximity to the capital even more.

Permanences -> Over time the area remains a humid place surrounded by forest and with the church, cemetery and laundry.

Simmilarities and differences
Simmilarities -> Regarding other urbanizations has in common the proximity to a river or a city, parks and its own church.

Differences -> It has some cornfields to its suburbs, has a own school and is place where lived a very important literary personage Galician.

Elements detracting from your landscape
A small part of the forest was burned by accident and that does not make it look like a green forest if not a forest with some trees half or not as much vegetation as would be typical here. But that has done enough, which has given time for new plants to grow and the forest to become green again. It also detracts from the fact that the water in the creek can not be seen due to the herbs that cover it. Apart there are many neglected gardens where you could do many things but unfortunately they are not made.

Recommendations for environment sustainability
It would improve the situation to have an anti-fire system that would avoid another possible fire. Another thing that could be done would be to put a court to do sport or some social house to realize events. And it would look much nicer if the creek was free of grass.

Recommendations for social sustainability
It would be much better, to organize more parties between neighbors so that they know each other, and especially for the new ones, it is normal that they do not know anyone.

Explanation

As Cortes (Ortoño) has two news housing developments (with more than 100 houses) wich are situaded next to the river Sar and are rural. There is a road leading from the near town of Bertamirans to a water treatment plant behind the develoment which is rural and regulary used for walking and cycling. There is a primary school near to river Sar, in front of the houses. This place is well know for its natural spring, the people came here to refill their bottles with frehs drinkable water. It is situaded near the school and the river Sar. In the past, the people washed their clothes there. There is a church, San Juan church it is situaded on the exit of this lanscape.

Chronology
The construction began before 2007, beginning with the second housing development, then continued to build more houses until the end of 2009.

Changes and permanences over time
Ortoño is currently changing.One thing that is changing is the primary school.Builders are building new clases for more small children.They are also remodeling the interior of the church

Simmilarities and differences
Bertamiráns is different to Ortoño in many ways:
There are mainly only flats which can be no more than 3 storeys high.
There is a doctor’s surgery with an emergency facility, as well as a police station and Town Hall.
There are other facilities including small, specialist shops, chain supermarkets and numerous bars and restaurants.
A small market is held every Saturday afternoon, with stalls selling fresh produce and clothes.
The common things in Ortoño and Bertamiráns are that people are kind, smile and laugh a lot.

Elements detracting from your landscape
People throw trash bags and throw beer cans on the grass so I think that diminishes the enviroment.I also think that the treatment plant's smell deminishes it aswell.

Recommendations for environment sustainability
Stop throwing trash bags and throwing beer cans on the grass.

Recommendations for social sustainability
I don't think that people should change much.
