Otto Hahn (1879-1968) was a German chemist and Lise Meither (1878-1968) was an Austrian physicist who investigates radiation and nuclear physics. Also, in 1918, she worked with Otto Hahn in an investigation where they discovered protactinium. But later, she had to leave Germany, forced by the Laws of the Nazi government. Together, in 1938, they discovered the nuclear fission of uranium and thorium, and, for this discovery, Hahn won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1944 for his pioneering work in the field of radioactivity, however, Meitner was never recognized as a co-author of this discovery because she was a woman. It's often considered one of the most obvious examples of scientific findings discovered by women and overlooked by the Nobel committee for being a woman, but in her honor the chemical element 109 was named "meitnerio".
