Meaning of the surname
Lorenzo means: Son of Laurentius.
The origin of the Lorenzo surname in Galicia, comes from a knight called Almiro Louba. In 1049 on Saint Lawrence's day (10th August),he was attacked by a big group of arabs and survived because of the intervention of Saint Lawrence to whom he was especially devoted. To thank him for such a great miracle he built a church in Saint Lawrence's honour and changed his surname from Louba to Lorenzo, which was proudly carried on by his descendants.

Meaning of the coat of arms
The shield is red with a silver border. It has a silver portcullis in the centre. The border contains eight red crosses and a red fleur de lis cross between each red cross.
Silver means peace and sincerity. The color red means strength and victory.
The border represents the knight's coat of arms, given by the King, to warriors with enemy's blood on their surcoat, as a symbol of protection and reward.
The crosses represent the knight's sword covered with his enemy's blood.
